RESCUED SHEHARD/ROTTIE MIX FROM NC We got a call last month from North Carolina - A pregnant dog was close to giving birth and her family dumped her in a HIGH KILL shelter ... They did not take the time or effort to spay her or even watch her so she would not get pregnant ...
Then when she was huge with pregnancy and about 15 days away from giving birth - they DISPOSED of her ... like trash ...
In NC the shelters are so over run with pups - there is no leash law and spaying and nuetering is the last expense a person wants to do...
Well - of course we pulled Abbie (foster mom here named her) - had her vetted - the poor thing had never been to a vet - and fostered there till we could get her driven up here ...
A wonderful family took her in as a foster and took care of her till she went into labor ...
She came to my shop in labor and labored all day (8 MAY 08) - finally to start giving birth at 5 pm at night ...
I am in a great residential and commercial neighborhood of wonderful kids and parents ... The kids come to the shop everyday and help with the puppies and the chores of running the shop ....
When they all found out about Abbie and her plight - they would ask about her everyday and were excited at the prospect of the coming birth ...
Of course Abbie in her infinite wisdom - waited for everyone to be present before giving birth ...
She had no less than 18-20 people around her when she gave birth to her 2 sons and 2 daughters - SHE WAS WONDERFUL ....
Not only did she get the love and support of the neighborhood BUT she gave the neighborhood a wonderful memory ...
Here this 9-10 month old "thrown away" MOM has been loved by all and supported by a neighborhood ....
She is a wonderful loving mother, playful teenage puppy herself, and a beautiful natured dog ...
Her puppies are up for adoption and 2 are already spoken for ... COME SEE THIS BEAUTIFUL MOM AND HER PUPS .... |
